Thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird

Wallace Stevens wrote a poem called "Thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird" in which he wrote thirteen verses, all describing a blackbird from different angles. There is no single definition which fits exactly.
There is one old saying in India, whatever that can not be seen by Sun can be seen by a Poet.
What a beautiful poetry!!! The poet has depicted 13 different ways of looking at the same thing. What a creativity!!! We must embed this in our life. Lets spend one day in doing everything differently and then you will realize the important of the creativity.
I) Among twenty snowy mountains,
The only moving thing
Was the eye of the blackbird.

II) I was of three minds,
Like a tree In which
there are three blackbirds.

III) The blackbird whirled
in the autumn winds.
It was a small part of the pantomime.

IV) A man and a woman Are one.
A man and a woman and
a blackbird Are one.

V) I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling Or just after.

VI) Icicles filled the long window
With barbaric glass.
The shadow of the blackbird
Crossed it, to and fro.
The mood Traced in the shadow An indecipherable cause.

VII) O thin men of Haddam,
Why do you imagine golden birds?
Do you not see how the blackbird
Walks around the feet Of the women about you?

VIII) I know noble accents
And lucid, inescapable rhythms;
But I know, too, That the blackbird is
involved In what I know.

IX) When the blackbird flew
out of sight, It marked the edge
Of one of many circles.

X) At the sight of blackbirds
Flying in a green light,
Even the bawds of euphony
Would cry out sharply.

XI) He rode over Connecticut
In a glass coach. Once, a fear pierced him,
In that he mistook The shadow of his equipage For blackbirds.

XII) The river is moving.
The blackbird must be flying.

XIII) It was evening all afternoon.
It was snowing And it was going to snow.
The blackbird sat In the cedar-limbs.

Nordic "Ting" and Indian "Panchayat Raj"

In our company we normally take trainees, we train those trainees and then we place them in our different branches all over the world. This year we have trainees from Europe and Nordic region.
Just to increase the cross cultural dialogue we have started the session which will give glimpse of the Nordic And Dutch Culture.
Yesterday it was second session of the Nordic Culture Program. Ms. Saana Eckardt has delivered that wonderful session. After the session we were discussing about the political organizations at Nordic regions.
In Nordic region the smallest form of the Political Organization is known as "Ting" .
The ting was the assembly of the free people of a country, province or a hundred (hundare/härad/herred). There were consequently hierarchies of tings, so that the local tings were represented at the higher-level ting, for a province or land. At the ting, disputes were solved and political decisions were made. The place for the ting was often also the place for public religious rites and for commerce.

" Illustration of a ting"

The above picture is to describes about a Ting meeting.

Now you must be wondering why I am telling you about Ting. In India we have a similar concept known as "Panchayat Raj".
On the same lines as Ting, The Panchayat is a South Asian political system.
Panchayat’ literally means assembly (yat) of five (panch) wise and respected elders chosen and accepted by the village community. Traditionally, these assemblies settled disputes between individuals and villages.
Modern Indian government has decentralised several administrative functions to the village level, empowering elected gram panchayats.
Gram panchayats are not to be confused with the unelected khap panchayats (or caste panchayats) found in some parts of India.
It is really interesting to know that wherever you go some things (Or many things) remains the same.

Importance of Cross Cultural Communication

"For those who want something different, something akin to a mini-stint with the Peace Corps, there is Cross-Cultural Solutions."

From the few days I was thinking about how you can increase the cross cultural dialogue and found that blogging is the best place for it.
There is always a curiosity of knowing different culture worldwide. If we look at the history the cross cultural activities are always playing a major role in business, art and many more things.

Many of the violence or hate for different religions and culture comes from the lack of knowledge about that culture of the specific community. If we can can spread knowledge of different cultures all over the world using different means of cross cultural activities then I am sure that we will be able stop the misconception about different cultures.
Every culture is like a signature having its own beauty. We should admire it and try to know its root, context and traditions.

Using the Cross Cultural Activities we can overcome the following challenges.
  • Communication Skills Improvement
  • Failure to Understand an Opponent's Perspective
  • Language Differences
  • Misinterpretation of Communication

Lets Create Dialogue between different parts of world. Lets embrace different culture. Lets learn good things from each other. Lets make the world better place to live.

When Pink City turns red...

After Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Banglore, Malegaon, Hyderabad, now there are blasts in Jaipur killed 63 people and injured over 200.

The country that has tradition of more than 2000 years of peace again got wounded by those cowards who can't fight to our mighty Indian Army. They don't have guts so they are killing innocent people.

There are many views on this. After 9/11 there is not a single blast in USA. Why it is not possible in India?

Why government is not taking strict actions? Terrorist has no face, no religion. We need to destroy terrorism from all over the world.

Terrorist groups are targeting small cities especially the cities which are developing. Jaipur is hot favorite for the tourists. So by making blasts they will frighten the foriegners. The terrorist want to hammer the local economy. The Indians proved that they will fight terrorism till there last breath.

Due to this blast Top cricketers including Shane Warne are thinking of quiting IPL and returning home.

I don't know why I am giving the label life to this article, but my heart is saying that we will establish peace all over the world and again there will be life for every human in this society.

I got this picture from Mr Sprott's Website. This picture very well describes about the "Competition". There are various thought on this word in my mind.

It remembers me one story from my childhood. There was a farmer having two sons. Once day he called both of them. He draw one line in the sand with a stick and asked his sons that "Make this line short".
The Elder son came and said "It's very easy". And he rubbed that line till it looked small.

The farmer asked next son "What do you think?". The younger son came and he created one long line besides the existing line. Which made that existing line look smaller.

Lets built mountains to make other mountains feel small, instead of destroying it. Do the healthy competition.

Dos and Don't

Email sites are blocked at my workspace because I am working in very information sensitive domain. Pen drives, CD, DVD or any electronic media is not allowed at workspace. These are some of the "don't"s at the workspace, in the same way at home, in the temple, in the mosque and the church there are several dos and don't predefined.

That I wanted to check my personal email account due to some urgent work. So went to e-zone in our company. E-zone is a dedicated computer where all the sites can opened and browsed legally. At that machine there was one poster describing about dos. Which can be done with the use of e-zone, but there was no poster about the don't.
I was really surprised. Thanks to my employer for such freedom. I finished my work, while coming back from the e-zone I was thinking what will happen if there are no don'ts in our life, everything in life comes under dos.
No parent will shout at the children eating chocolates, no teacher will shout at his student for not doing the homework.
According to me the dos and dont should come from the person's mind and not from any list of rules or somebody else mind.
I will make my own rules.

Arvind Gupta Toys

The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune, India
I was chatting with my friend about the mentoring the office colleagues for Social Responsibility. Suddenly she send me the URL I said whats that?

She said "do you remember last time you was went for a business tour and we have conducted a pne week induction for the employees in our last company. Arvind Gupta's Seminar was the part of it. "Eureka" I said.

I quickly opened his website and started looking at it. I was really in dilemma whether he will be agree to mentor the our company employees or not? I dialed IUCAA's number, he has a workshop in IUCAA. Phone started ringing, I was expecting the phone to be picked up by some operator and then she will transfer me to Mr Arvind Gupta.

"Hi, Can I talk to Mr. Arvind Gupta",
"Yes, Speaking"

And I was feeling like very lucky that in the first try only I got a chance to talk to such a high profile man. I explained him like how we are planning to mentor and learn about the social responsibility. I asked him can we meet? He said "Sure". "When" I asked him. "Tomorrow." He replied.

I think those days were full of surprises. I am going to meet Mr Arvind Gupta that was really a great thing for me.

Next day, I went there with very neatly dressed thinking that I should look professional and he should not create a wrong impression about me. I have told at reception to wait for 5 min.

And after exactly 5 minutes a person came and said Hi to me and that was him. But the outfits of this person was exactly opposite of what I was imagining.

He was tall, beard gentleman with a simple Khadi kurta and pyjama. I was really shocked about my wrong judgement about the personality of this person. He was having so simple and innocent gestures that forced me to remove all my so called corporate attitude and style. How can he be so simple? He has been doing this from more that 20 decades all over the country.

He took me to his workshop and gave me most unforgettable memories of my life. I forgot my age and I become child again.

Arvind Gupta is a Electrical Engineer from IIT, Kanpur, he started his social work in 1978. Arvind Gupta is continuously working for child educations from 1978. He prepares scientific toys for unprivileged/privileged children.
"Arvind Gupta mentoring the volunteers"

He said "Science is locked in all the schools, child never gets a chance to play with the scientific equipment.". One reason behind this can be because they are costly. Arvind Gupta makes toys from the waste. Whatever we think is useless he creates miracle out of it.
His motto is "Kabad se Jugad" ("Best from the waste"). He has uploaded 700 books on his website freely available for download. Many of his books have sold half million copies in different languages, he don't take royalty for that.

I was really feeling his energy, his enthusiasm and passion about the child education.
I really feel lucky that I got a chance to meet such a living legend.
Hats Off to you Arvind Gupta!!! I do my level best to spread the energy that I received from you.
