Random musings 1

Evening in West Hartford:

It was a great day. Our team won two consecutive matches in the intra-company Cricket Tournament. I was happy and tired due to this physical activity after almost gap of 1 month. It was already noon when we finished playing. I came home and took a nap for some time. I woke up and I was not feeling refreshed. I was tired and empty inside. Suddenly I started feeling lonely. I decided to go for a walk to the Blue Back Square.

Small and neat town of West Hartford has a place called Blue Back Square. This is very lively place. You can find Movie Theatre, Live music, Library, fitness club, restaurants etc. It’s a never ending list. How can I forget to mention about its people. Friendliest neighborhood I ever lived in. Beautiful place beautiful people. When I reach Blue Back Square I realized there is new movie recently released “100 Foot Journey”. The plot has some Indian connection. It triggered my curiosity and I was in the theatre. It was a real treat for eyes and soul. What a beautiful story, great cinematography! It really refreshed me inside out. Lead roles delivered amazing performances. It was nice to see beautiful terrains of France.

Movie finished and when came out of the theatre and some young lady was singing a song “What a beautiful world!”. That was a moment. I am happy that I was present there to experience it.

Music – Daily Tonic:

Sometimes I feel bad that I discovered Madan Mohan’s music very late. Most of his songs are my favorite but I was not aware that he was the creator of those. From last 5 years, Madan Mohan has taken over my love for RD. There is one beautiful connection between Pune and Madan Mohan. Madan Mohan Used to attend Sawai Gandharv Mahostav in Pune regularly. He used to proudly say that this festival is sea of music flowers. I collect music petals from here and try to decorate my songs. Some of my favorites from Madan Mohan are –

Lag Jaa Gale

Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho

Kaise Kate Gi Zindagi -

Dil Dhoondta Hai – Orginal in Madan Mohan voice

Tere Liye, Hum hai jiye

Mutton Memories:

Finally the day has arrived. After lots of hype of “Mutton Paya Dish” from Zaika ( , yesterday I finally got a chance to have taste of this delicious dish. If you are in new England, you must taste this dish. Normally it takes three days to prepare this dish including marinating the meat. As mentioned in the 100 Foot Journey, food are memories. So true! Now this dish has joined my mutton memories. First one is mutton cooked by my mom, second one is Bengali style mutton prepared by Jayata and third is Mutton raan served in Kareem’s in Gudgaon, Noida, India.

My tenure in Movers and Packers!

Thank you! I said to Shiva my buddy in Hartford for helping me move to my new condo in Hartford.  This is my fifth time in last one year I am moving to new place. During my first moving I thought its boring then by the 3rd moving experience I accepted the fact that it’s frustrating to pack all things and unpack again once you move to new place.
There is a positive side to it too.

Moving helps you de-clutter your life. It helps you decide what things you do not need and should get rid of.
You never see those things unless you browse through your Elmira.

It pushes you to out of your comfort zone.  You get used to things around, roads, people, places. It difficult to get away from all these connection and form new connection.

Fear of unknown - The most common root of fear is unknown. This is only thing which stops people from taking decision. But with multiple moving experience in my pocket, I am now used to that feeling. I have accepted the fact that its ok to have unknowns in life. You cannot uncover all the things. Certainty is myth. Earlier you get used to this fact, better for you.

Memories - It helps you get new experiences, create memories so that you can tell your grandsons stories :)

Not everyone will get into situation like moving 5 times a year. But if you are in that situation, you have a choice to look at the positive side of it.

Take a deep breathe!

Hanging on, persevering, WINNING
Letting go, giving up easily, LOSING

Accepting responsibility for your actions, WINNING
Always having an excuse for your actions, LOSING

Taking the initiative, WINNING
Waiting to be told what to do, LOSING

Knowing what you want and setting goals to achieve it, WINNING
Wishing for things, but taking no action, LOSING

Seeing the big picture, and setting your goals accordingly, WINNING
Seeing only where you are today, LOSING

Being determined, unwilling to give up WINNING
Gives up easily, LOSING

Having focus, staying on track, WINNING
Allowing minor distractions to side track them, LOSING

Having a positive attitude, WINNING
having a "poor me" attitude, LOSING

Adopt a WINNING attitude!

Unexpected Bliss!!

Yesterday my Macbook pro started making noise. When I searched on the net I found that this issue is mainly caused by the dust.

I was sure that it will be really costly to replace the Macbook pro fan.

I went to apple genius bar center and they just cleaned the fan it was working as new.

Thanks a lot Apple Care. You made my day!

Spring is coming...

After a long time I feeling excited about blogging again thanks to this post.

Though spring has started in many parts of US. It’s not seen visibly in Minnesota. Look at this picture I clicked yesterday.

But looking at the weather forecast it looks like we will get spring very soon.

There were lots of instances from my current 6 months stay in Minnesota. I meet really amazing people in Minnesota. Made new friends. Pushed my limits. Tested my intuitions, I survived the worst winter in last two decades and I am feeling grateful for all of these things.

With spring coming, I have few plans in my mind for next 6 months.
